Introducing Babysitter(Freedom)!
We invited Soo-Jin over for dinner this afternoon so Chloe can get to know her. Soo-Jin baby-sat her a couple of times before when Chloe was less than a year old, but other than that, Andrew and I hardly ever left Chloe with any one else. It's crazy to think that we haven't gone out that much! A few times when we both had to go out, like for evening weddings or company events, we had either my mother-in-law or my parents stay with Chloe. I think between my full-time job and Andrew's crazy work hours made me feel bad (sometimes even guilty) to Chloe during the weekday, so we always manage to do spend time with her as much as we can during the evenings and weekends. However, we decided IT IS TIME to reclaim a more balanced social life for again... Okay, forget the social life, but we would love to go see a movie ONCE before the second baby arrives in September. Is that too much to ask?

Tuesday Night Dinner
Chloe had her routine check-up this morning. She's 33 in. and 23 lbs. Her height is in the 92 percentile, but her weight is only in the 22 percentile. In an attempt to fatten her up a bit (and I was really hungry when I went grocery shopping today), I tried making something special. I made a salmon dish that I recently learned from the Food Network and Andrew grilled the salmon, along with stakes, and of course some hotdogs as usual. Chloe, however, took only few bites of the salmon and prefer not to eat it, so it all ended up going to my baby boy #2!

Tough Cookie
Chloe was sick the last three days with a runny nose, fever of 102º, stomach problems, and also teething. On Saturday morning she woke up around 5 a.m. and seemed to be better, but after a few hours later, she was getting cranky and tired so I put her to bed for an early morning nap. She woke up around noon SCREAMING and CRYING. She cried when I held her, she cried when I offered her food, she cried when I sang, and there was nothing we could do to stop her from crying. When her crying lasted more than an hour, we started to get worried and called her doctor. He advised me to give her 2.5 ml of infant Motrin and if she still had not calmed down after 45 mins, we would have to take her to an emergency room for examinations . I started to PANIC! We just ran out of Motrin so Andrew ran to a pharmacy while I stayed with Chloe who was still screaming... She was very thirsty and kept asking for water. After getting up and down several times to get her cup of water, I got her a new bottle of water. As soon as I said "be careful not to spill, honey", she grabbed the bottle and S P R A Y E D all over across the living room! That's when I knew she was just misbehaving. It was time to bring out Nanny 911 in me!
Andrew sometimes complains about my disciplining ability to Chloe. He thinks I don't. AT ALL. The truth is, he's right. I let her get away with a lot of things because I really can't bring myself to be upset by her. I always take her side and understand her point of view, which is filled with curiousity . When she makes a mess of things, I let her, which is so surprising to Andrew because he thinks I'm a neat freak. Anyway, this time it was a different story. She crossed the line. It was MY time to be authoritative and be her boss! I showed her. Since I hardly get upset at her or show my angry side to Chloe, she responded almost immediately. She stopped her crying and calmed down.
Andrew walks in and sees Chloe sitting quietly next to me, gently leaning against me. He looked so surprised...
"Dude, what did you do??"
Chloe was back to her sweetness for the rest of the afternoon.

4th of July-Grilling!
Andrew surprised us with a couple of porterhouse steaks so we decided to have a bbq in our backyard. Chloe drank the whole cup of fresh mint lemonade and that was mostly her lunch. She's been eating less and less these days. I try not to force her to eat but I'm getting little bit worried since she's been a such good eater up to now. She loves to snack though. She'll take my hands to the kitchen and points to the cabinet where I store her snack and demands, "Kka-ka! Kka-ka!" (which means snack).
This evening we've been looking forward to taking Chloe to the fireworks so we made her stay up until almost 9 o'clock. But it started to rain while we were driving so we decided to come back home and Chloe said, "be-oh-i" again! To Andrew's much relief, (he was freaked out thinking she was saying BOY last week), we finally figured out that she was saying "비 와" which means it's raining!!! Doh! It's been raining so much these days, I guess I was saying that a lot. :)
